You must be at least 14 years of age to join the N-SSA and become part of the Western Region. Ours is a unique shooting sport and we strongly suggest that you come out to one of our Regional Skirmishes to see what exactly we do. Once there, we can answer any questions you may have and even get you out on the firing line to try your hand at some shooting after some instructions from a qualified member.
Starting in 2015 you may join the N-SSA as an individual but you then have one year to find a team that you like in the Western Region. By joining a team you get hundreds of years of skirmishing experiences to mentor you and help you improve in this sport.

The N-SSA and the Western Region has a strong history in the weapons used in the American Civil War, yet safety is our top priority and we will not compromise it for historical accuracy. After all this is a live fire competition involving live ammunition.
The Western Region is a small region of the N-SSA with over 100 members. There are five teams one can join. There are three teams that represent a US infantry, one team of US Sharpshooters, and one team that represents an US artillery unit
